REDSEC Ranked

In Season 3 of Battlefield 6 REDSEC, we introduced a Ranked competitive version of our Battle Royale mode. This was the first ranked competitive mode in the Battlefield Franchise.

My responsibilities included:

  • Analysis of Ranked Battle Royale modes from other competitors.

  • Designing the frontend flows for entering a ranked match.

  • Designing the frontend flows for viewing information about the player's current rank and rewards.

  • Collaborating across different crafts and with stakeholders to ensure UI implementation followed my designs.

On this page is a collection of some of the screens that I designed for REDSEC Ranked.

Ranked Profile HUB

For a ranked system to properly succeed, players must have a way to track their current rank and how close they are to the next. This is a hugely important screen since it is also a place for us to tease future rewards, and provide motivation to the player to continue playing ranked modes and increase their standing. Here the player can see their current rank, the structure of the ranks, and what reward is awaiting them when they next rank-up.

Ranked Rewards

A large motivator for playing ranked is the potential rewards that players may earn. Thus a screen is required to display these rewards in full, and show the player what awaits them should they increase their ranked standing. On this screen, players can navigate between the different divisions and see which rewards they earn at each rank, as well as the reward they will earn for having reached that rank or beyond by the time the season ends.

Ranked Rules and Points

A ranked competitive system includes lots of rules to ensure matches are kept fair and we can try to control the rate at which people rank up. To make sure players have complete transparency in how they earn points, I created this screen which displays how gameplay events, such as kills and assists, affect earned ranked points.

End of Season Rewards and Rank Transition

Once a new season begins, we must inform the player of their final standing based on their performance in the previous ranked season. In this screen we communicate to the player what their final rank was, what their new starting rank will be, and what end of season rewards they earned as a result of their hard work.

Display of the players final rank of the season, the rank they will start with in the new season, and the rewards earned from the previous season.
